Alfama welcomes the 8th edition of Lisboa Downtown
Lisboa Downtown is back to the most famous borough of Lisbon. Every year bring more success, and this year it won’t be an exception. This awesome challenge will as usual provide extreme speed and adrenalin. Alfama will host once more this unforgettable event. The world’s best downhillers will be disputing the champion on May 19th. This year, the total prize money will be 20 thousand euros and the first place can still be rewarded with a KIA Picanto car. The trail will be the same as last year's, starting in Castelo de São Jorge and finalising in Largo do Terreiro do Trigo. There will be new obstacles that won't make the riders life easy. An excellent show is guaranteed and we will be able to watch the riders and their jumps and moves. The contestants aim is common: have fun and be the first to finish the trial. he trial it’s made up of two categories: males and females, with 40 and 15 riders respectively. The action starts will be hitting the road from 2 p.m. onwards. The semi-final will choose the 20 best men, plus 5 wildcard, and the 8 best women, plus 2 wildcard. However, only the fastest in each category will be awarded the victory. Inácio Silva, the logistics manager and speaker of the event, says that "this year Downhill edition will be even more exciting and with even more competition. It will gather the best riders within the best and everything will be ready to host an excellent urban event." Steve Peat is the king of this Lisboa Downtown, with 5 consecutive triumphs. Is he going to conquer the first place again? Or will he have to give up his crown? Will Cedric Gracia be able to beat the champion? Or who knows Brian Lopes, the BTT legend, will seek revenge from his second place in 2003. We will only get to know it on the 19th of May, after the last whistle of the ultimate challenge that makes Lisbon the urban downhill world capital.
